A 34-year-old woman died in a July 4 car crash in Arlington, according to a Wednesday news release from police.

The woman, whose identity has not yet been released from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, was driving a car in the 4100 block of Gentle Springs Drive around 9:10 a.m. Tuesday with one passenger when the car ran into a tree, according to police.

Authorities said the passenger, a 35-year-old woman, received injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

Officers arrived on the scene to find that a 2009 Nissan Altima hit a tree near the roadway on Gentle Springs Drive. The driver and passenger were both taken to the hospital, where the driver died.

Investigators aren’t sure what caused the driver to hit the tree and the investigation is ongoing, according to police.
