Man, 25, dies after 2 weeks of hospitalization after Arlington car crash

A 25-year-old man has died after being hospitalized for over two weeks after a motor vehicle crash in Arlington.

The car accident occurred on April 26 around 3:25 p.m. in the 7800 block of S. Cooper Street.

Police say that Jase Lyle, 25, was driving a 2014 Nissan Juke with another 25-year-old man when Lyle attempted to make a U-turn into the northbound lanes of the roadway.

Lyle’s vehicle crashed into a Dodge Charger that was traveling north on the road.

Lyle and the other man in his vehicle were taken to nearby hospitals. Police have not identified the passenger, but said he remains hospitalized and that Lyle succumbed to his injuries Wednesday.

A 16-year-old girl, who was driving the Charger, was also taken to a nearby hospital but was released with non-life-threatening injuries. Four other individuals in her car did not require hospitalization, police said.

“Investigators determined Lyle made the U-Turn when it was not safe for him to do so and this caused the crash,” police said. “The driver of the Charger is not facing any criminal charges. “
