Porsche racing at 80 mph hits another car, killing one on Arlington street, police say

A 30-year-old man was killed and his 20-year-old passenger was critically injured Tuesday afternoon when their car was hit by a Porsche Cayenne, which had been racing with another vehicle on an Arlington street, police said Wednesday.

A preliminary investigation estimated that the Porsche Cayenne was traveling 80 mph in a 45 mph zone when it hit a Honda Accord at an Arlington intersection.

The diver of the Accord was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 20-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the Porsche also was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident occurred just after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Lee Drive and West Green Oaks Boulevard.

Investigators determined that the driver of the Honda was trying to turn left on Green Oaks when his vehicle was hit by the Porsche. On impact, the Accord was pushed into a light pole.

Witnesses told Arlington police that the Porsche was racing with a dark BMW on Green Oaks Boulevard. The BMW continued driving north after the fatal crash.

Police identified the driver of the Porsche as Priscilla Rodriguez, 45, of Arlington.

Rodriguez faces two charges of racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury or death, police said.

The name of the Honda driver who died has not been released by authorities.
