Aging doesn’t have to be so hard. This free event in Arlington can make it easier.
Who doesn’t want to enter their twilight years in the best of ways?
Arlington’s annual Aging Well Expo can help with that, providing important tips and information on how to get the most out of life. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the Esports Stadium Arlington & Expo Center, 1200 Ballpark Way.
The free event is a coordinated effort between the City of Arlington, Tarrant County, and many community sponsors. It is expected to feature more than 125 vendors, fitness demonstrations, health screenings, housing resources, information on volunteering in the community, educational presentations, door prizes and more.
“Whether you are looking for simple ways to improve your well-being or you need information about healthcare services, housing options and volunteer opportunities in our area, the Aging Well Expo offers a variety of valuable tips and resources for the Arlington community,” said Belinda Reed, City of Arlington Parks and Recreation Programmer.
The expo will also offer participants a chance to receive screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose, as well as vision, hearing and fall risk evaluation. Flu, pneumonia, whooping cough and tetanus shots along with other vaccinations will be available for free for those who qualify.
To make an appointment with Texas Health Resources for a free mammogram or skin cancer screening during the Aging Well Expo, call 855-318-7696 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
There will also be prizes given away throughout the day.
Also, residents who live in the Via Rideshare service area can book a free ride to and from the Expo between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Feb. 19 using discount code AGINGWELL2020.
