Security guard, Arlington resident killed in separate shootings in Arlington
An Arlington man was fatally shot in his own apartment and a security guard was killed about two hours later in separate shootings Sunday night, according to police and news reports on Monday.
A suspect was arrested in the shooting at the apartment.
Arlington police responded to the first shooting call about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at an apartment in the 2700 block of Indian Creek Drive and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim has been identified as Christian Cruz, 27, of Arlington, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office website on Monday. He died at a hospital about 10:15 p.m. A ruling on his death is pending an autopsy.
Investigators believe there was a disturbance at the apartment prior to the killing, police said.
According to KDFW-TV, a security guard was shot and killed about 11:45 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Amigos Sports Bar in the 3200 block of E. Park Row Drive in Arlington. No suspects have been identified in that shooting.
The name of the security guard had not been released pending notification of relatives.
When officers arrived, they found a man in his 40s lying in the parking lot of the business with multiple gunshot wounds, police said in a news release Monday. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
“Investigators believe the man was an employee at the business and are working to figure out exactly what happened,” police said in the news release.
