Fort Worth children’s hospital allowing patients 2 visitors for first time since April

Cook Children’s hospital will begin allowing patients two visitors at a time Thursday morning for the first time since April.

Since April 13, families with children admitted to Cook Children’s Medical Center were limited to one primary caregiver per patient amid the coronavirus pandemic. The new policy begins at 5 a.m. Thursday. Two caregivers will be able to accompany patients in the hospital and stay with them in their room.

Siblings and other visitors are still not permitted, per the guidelines provided by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and other agencies.

For clinic appointments and other outpatient visits, patients are still limited to one caregiver, and siblings will not be able to attend appointments unless they have an appointment as well.

For emergency room and urgent care visits, special exceptions will be made for families who have other children with them when they arrive. Special considerations are also made for special situations, including a terminal case.

Visitors to Cook Children’s are screened for the coronavirus and all visitors older than 2 are asked to wear a face covering at all times.
