Tarrant County reports 7th day of 300-plus new COVID cases, adds two deaths
Tarrant County reported 393 coronavirus cases, including 84 unreported cases from at least 30 days ago, on Friday.
The county also reported two more COVID-19 deaths, including a Fort Worth woman in her 60s and an Arlington man in his 80s. Both had underlying health conditions, according to officials.
The 84 unreported cases added Friday are because of a backlog in the reporting database used by Texas’ Department of State Health Services.
The county has reported 300 or more cases for seven consecutive days.
Tarrant County has reported a total of 48,897 COVID-19 cases, including 645 deaths and an estimated 42,771 recoveries.
The percentage of occupied hospital beds being used by confirmed coronavirus patients in the county has been 7% each day since Monday. The rate had consistently dropped since hitting a pandemic high water mark of 20% on July 23. Since late August, the rate has remained steady between 6 and 7%.
COVID-19 causes respiratory illness with cough, fever and shortness of breath and may lead to bronchitis and severe pneumonia. For more information go to coronavirus.tarrantcounty.com or call the Tarrant County Public Health information line, 817-248-6299.
