Why Tarrant County reported its most COVID-19 cases in more than a month on Thursday
Tarrant County reported 301 new coronavirus cases, plus 286 unreported cases from earlier in the pandemic, on Thursday.
The county also reported two COVID-19 deaths — an Arlington man in his 90s and a Benbrook woman in her 90s. Both had underlying health conditions, according to officials.
The 286 additional cases were unreported from at least 30 days earlier because of a lab backlog and reporting delay from Texas’ Department of State Health Services database.
Tarrant County has reported a total of 48,504 COVID-19 cases, including 643 deaths and an estimated 42,141 recoveries.
COVID-19 causes respiratory illness with cough, fever and shortness of breath and may lead to bronchitis and severe pneumonia. For more information go to coronavirus.tarrantcounty.com or call the Tarrant County Public Health information line, 817-248-6299.
