Tarrant County reports 11 new coronavirus deaths, 203 new cases
Tarrant County reported 203 new coronavirus cases and 11 new deaths on Saturday.
The county now has recorded 44,140 total cases and 603 deaths, according to county data. There have been an estimated 38,998 recoveries.
The new deaths include a man from Mansfield in his 90s; six men in their 80s, three from Fort Worth, one from Grapevine, one from Southlake, one from White Settlement; two women in their 80s, both from Arlington; a woman from Fort Worth in her 70s; and a woman from Bedford in her 70s, according to a county press release. All had underlying health conditions.
Saturday’s deaths are the highest reported since Aug. 22, when 22 deaths were reported.
The county continues to see a decline in areas that health officials consider key data.
Hospitalizations continue to go down, with 6% of all occupied hospital beds being used by COVID-19 patients, according to county data. This number is down from a peak of 20% reported about two months ago.
The county’s positivity rate sits at 10%, down from a peak of 20% reported in July.
Vinny Taneja, the county’s public health director, previously told the Star-Telegram that he wants the positivity rate to get down to 5%. He also worries about what the recent Labor Day weekend will mean for coronavirus cases in the county.
