Denton County reported 145 new coronavirus cases and three deaths on Friday.

It’s the most new COVID-19 cases in the county since 188 were reported on July 30.

The county has reported six pandemic-related deaths in August. The latest deaths include three residents of long-term care facilities. The deceased included a man in his 70s and a woman in her 80s who were residents of Eagle Ridge Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Denton, and a man in his 70s who was a resident of Brookhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carrollton.

The death of a Frisco woman in her 80s was reported on Thursday.

Denton County has confirmed 7,519 COVID-19 cases, including 60 deaths and 4,408 recoveries.

“Your thoughts and prayers for these three individuals’ family and friends would be most appreciated,” Denton County Judge Andy Eads said in a release. “We hope to see a continued decrease in the positivity rate if everyone would wear masks, wash hands frequently, physically distance, and limit gatherings.”
