Dallas County reports 10 more COVID-19 deaths, 422 new cases on Friday

Dallas County reported 422 new coronavirus cases and 10 deaths on Friday.

The 10 latest COVID-19 deaths included seven residents in Dallas, and one each in Balch Springs, Farmers Branch and Richardson. Four of the deceased were residents of long-term care facilities.

The ages of the deceased include three men in their 60s, four women and one man in their 70s, and a man and woman in their 80s. All 10 had underlying health conditions, according to officials.

Almost 30% of all confirmed COVID-19 deaths in the county have been associated with residents of long-term care facilities.

Dallas County has confirmed 53,291 COVID-19 cases, including 746 deaths.

“Unfortunately, today we had 10 confirmed deaths which is a somber reminder of the seriousness of #COVID19 and the need for us to continue to wear masks, maintain six foot distance, and use frequent hand washing,” Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said in a release and on social media.

“If we continue to stay on the course that we’re on with masking and good decision making, I believe we can continue to see a decline that will get less people sick, keep more businesses open and get our kids back to school and activities sooner rather than later.”
