Dallas County nearing 50,000 coronavirus cases, 700 deaths

Dallas County reported 707 new coronavirus cases and seven deaths on Friday.

The latest COVID-19 deaths include four residents in Dallas and one each in Garland, Grand Prairie and Lancaster.

The deaths include a Dallas woman in her 40s, three men and two women in their 60s, and a Dallas man in his 70s. Two of the Dallas men were residents of long-term care facilities. One of the two men did not have underlying health conditions.

Dallas County has confirmed 49,976 COVID-19 cases, including 671 deaths.

More than 2,050 children under 18 have contracted the coronavirus since July 1, according to county officials. In July, 52 children have been hospitalized because of COVID-19. Of all the COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Dallas County during the pandemic, nearly 70% have been under 65.
