For 13th consecutive day, at least 1,000 new coronavirus cases reported in Dallas Co.

For the 13th consecutive day, Dallas County authorities on Wednesday reported at least 1,000 new coronavirus cases.

There were 1,055 new coronavirus cases in the county and eight more deaths.

The deaths were of a man in his 50s, three people in their 60s, two women in their 70s, a man in 80s and a man in his 90s, Dallas County Health and Human Services said.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins wrote in a statement that he had renewed his request that the governor close in-restaurant dining and businesses where 100% mask-wearing is not possible.

“The eight deaths we experienced today make it clear that by the time this week is over on Saturday that this will be one of our deadliest weeks so far,” Jenkins wrote in a statement. “I again urge Governor Abbott to enact the reasonable, business-friendly suggestions from the medical community that we sent him three weeks ago.”

In total, there have been 35,969 COVID-19 cases in Dallas County, including 485 deaths.

The state reported on Wednesday a record 10,791 new coronavirus cases and a record high 110 new deaths.
