Tarrant County reports a record 857 new coronavirus cases, five more deaths

After two consecutive days with no deaths, Tarrant County reported five deaths and a record 857 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday.

This brings the total number of cases in the county to 19,871 with 277 deaths, according to county data. At least 9,619 people have recovered.

The deaths include a woman in her 80s from Mansfield, a woman in her 70s from Watauga, two women in their 70s from Fort Worth and a man in his 40s from Arlington. All had underlying health conditions.

Residents over age 65 make up 68% of the county’s deaths, according to county data. Those ages 25 to 44 make up 40% of the people with COVID-19.

The county reports having 1,727 available beds. The 680 COVID-19 patients hospitalized use 16% of occupied beds. The county reports having 39% of its ventilators in use.
