Hood County reports fifth coronavirus death, first in more than two weeks

Hood County reported its fifth coronavirus-related death Friday.

The victim was described as someone in their 80s with underlying health conditions.

It’s the first reported pandemic-related death in the county since a woman in her 50s died on June 16.

Health officials report that there are about 100 active cases in Hood County.

Hood County Judge Ron Massingill is not requesting an exemption from Gov. Greg Abbott’s order limiting outside crowds of 10 or more and requiring residents to wear masks in public or in situations where social distancing is not possible.
