Denton County reports single-day high new coronavirus cases, first death in two weeks

Denton County reported a single-day high 115 new coronavirus cases and its first death in two weeks Wednesday.

A Lewisville man in his 40s is the 37th COVID-19-related death in the county.

Denton County has confirmed 2,417 COVID-19 cases, including at least 1,087 recoveries.

The county has seen an increase in cases the past two weeks, including 40 or more new cases the past nine days. The previous high was 83 new cases reported Tuesday. Before that, health officials reported 82 cases on June 17 and 18.

“As we also announce the highest number of new cases in a single day in Denton County, we request your help in protecting our community members and slowing the spread of COVID-19 by following public health recommendations,” County Judge Andy Eads said in a release.
