Aubrey man in his 60s is second coronavirus-related death in Denton County
Denton County confirmed its second COVID-19-related death as well as 11 new cases.
The second death was an Aubrey man in his 60s who had been hospitalized. A Lewisville man in his 40s on Thursday was the first confirmed coronavirus-related death in the county. He had contracted the virus through community spread. The county has confirmed 148 cases, including 40 at the Denton State Supported Living Center, a facility for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“To his family, we continue to send our thoughts and prayers to you as you navigate through this difficult time,” Denton County Judge Andy Eads said in a release.
Cases in Denton County come from 22 cities and unincorporated Denton County, including 14 each in Carrollton and Frisco, 13 in Lewisville and 10 in Denton, which doesn’t include the 40 residents and employees at the living center.
Of the 148 current cases, 32 are currently hospitalized or at one point had been hospitalized, 112 are in home isolation and four cases are pending an investigation.
More patients have contracted the virus through community spread than they have through recent travel, including 53 from local transmission and 43 from direct contact with a previously-confirmed case. Five cases are still pending an investigation.
Nearly half the cases are between the ages 50 and 69, including 38 in their 50s and 34 in their 60s. One patient is 19 or younger. Twenty-one patients are in their 20s, 13 patients are in their 30s, 22 patients are in their 40s, 17 patients are in their 70s and two patients are 80 or older.
