Dallas County confirmed a fifth death and 14 new coronavirus cases Tuesday.
It brings the total to 169 across 15 cities, including 103 in Dallas. The fifth death was a Dallas woman in her 70s with high-risk chronic health conditions who had been hospitalized.
Of the 169 cases, 62 of the patients are 40 or younger, 60 are between 41 and 60, and 47 are 61 or older. There are 106 male patients and 63 female patients.
Among the total confirmed cases, 61 have at one point been or are currently hospitalized, including 21 who were admitted to the intensive care unit and nine who required mechanical ventilation.
Of cases requiring hospitalization to date, about two-thirds (67%) have been either over 60 years of age or have had at least one known high-risk chronic health condition, the county says.
A shelter-in-place order took effect at 11:59 p.m. Monday for Dallas County residents. Other counties, including Tarrant, Denton and Collin have followed.
