Coronavirus

A Fort Worth-area suburb has 2 reported coronavirus cases. Officials urge calm.

Southlake Mayor Laura Hill told residents Monday afternoon to remain calm and to help one another as she reported that the Northeast Tarrant County city has two confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Hill said in a Facebook post that, “We are all aware that it was just a matter of time. Let’s continue to be smart, make the best decisions for our families and take care of neighbors in need. We have been anticipating this day, we knew it was coming and I understand it doesn’t make it any easier but now is the time for us to step up and be our best. I will continue to update you #ibelieveinsouthlake.”

The news about Southlake came as Tarrant County reported a fifth positive test for the coronavirus.

The Southlake Women’s Club also posted that Art in the Square, the largest charitable event in the city to benefit Norhteast Tarrant nonprofits, will not take place in April.

The Women’s Club and Southlake officials are deciding whether to postpone the event that brings in artists from all over the world until later in the year or perhaps wait until 2021. The event has brought in approximately $3.1 million to benefit those organizations.
