Dallas County reports 5 more coronavirus cases, one possibly from community spread
Five additional cases of coronavirus were reported in Dallas County, including one potentially from community spread, officials said Monday.
The cases were tested in local labs, but labs are no longer required to send “presumptive positive” tests to be confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Positive tests in local labs are considered confirmed cases of COVID-19, Dallas County Health and Human Services officials said in a press release.
The five cases include: a man in his 40s, a woman in her 50s, a man in his 50s, a man in his 60s and a man in his 70s.
Four of the cases are likely related to domestic out-of-state travel, but one of the cases is suspected to be from community spread.
All were self-isolating and were not hospitalized. Three of the people live in Dallas, one lives in Farmers Branch and another lives out-of-state, officials said.
“We will be announcing additional measures to keep you safe soon,” Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said in the announcement.
The five new cases brings Dallas County to a total of 19 confirmed cases of the virus.
