2 new Dallas coronavirus cases: Man traveled internationally, another was on cruise

A man who had traveled internationally and another who had been on a cruise were isolated at their Dallas homes on Saturday because they were presumed to have the novel coronavirus.

One of the men who tested positive for COVID-19 is in his 30s and the other is in his 40s, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported.

The new cases described on Saturday were the 10th and 11th reported by Dallas County Health and Human Services. Nine of the people live in the county.

“The number of cases will continue to rise,” Jenkins wrote in a statement. “The rate at which they rise will depend on the extent to which we all act responsibly to prevent community spread.”

A 77-year-old man who was the first person to test positive for coronavirus in Dallas County was “leaving the hospital in great shape,” Jenkins announced Saturday.

The man was an out-of-state traveler with an extensive travel history. Dallas County announced his positive test result on Tuesday.

“His wife was also positive, and she was never sick enough to need admission,” Jenkins wrote in a tweet.

The ninth Dallas County case, which was reported Friday, involves a Dallas resident who is in his or her 80s and had traveled beyond Texas.

Six people who live in Collin County have tested presumptively positive for the coronavirus, as have three Tarrant County residents. No presumptively positive tests for the virus have been reported by authorities in Denton County.
