DFW airport is getting a new low-cost airline with exclusive flights to this US region
A new airline will be landing at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport this spring.
Houston-based Avelo Airlines will begin direct flights between DFW and Tweed-New Haven Airport in Connecticut on March 7.
The low-priced carrier’s service will run twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. One-way ticket prices start at $89. The airline will operate a Boeing Next-Generation 737 on the route.
“This service makes visiting Southern Connecticut, and everything the greater New England and New York regions have to offer, easier than ever. We also look forward to making DFW’s thriving culinary scene, sports mecca and vibrant nightlife a fast and seamless journey for Connecticut travelers,” said Avelo’s founder and CEO Andrew Levy.
Started in 2021, Avelo flies to 54 cities in 24 states and Puerto Rico, as well as three international destinations to Jamaica, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Focused on flying unserved routes between under-served communities, the company operates primarily out of small airports.
Avelo had its first profitable quarter at the end of 2023. The carrier has flown over 6 million customers since its inception.
