Kohl’s is closing 27 stores, including this one in North Texas
Kohl’s will close 27 locations, including one in North Texas, by April 2025.
The department store announced the closings in a Jan. 9 news release, citing store under-performance as the reason for the closings.
“We always take these decisions very seriously,” Kohl’s CEO Tom Kingsbury said. “As we continue to build on our long-term growth strategy, it is important that we also take difficult but necessary actions to support the health and future of our business for our customers and our teams.”
After the closures, the company will still have around 1,120 locations. There are 89 current Kohl’s stores in Texas.
Kohl’s will also shut down its San Bernardino, Calif. E-commerce distribution center, since the company can fulfill online orders from existing store locations.
Will the Kohl’s location in Fort Worth close?
No. Fort Worth only has one Kohl’s location. It’s located at 5520 SW Loop 820. It will remain open.
The only Kohl’s store closing in North Texas is located in far north Dallas, on 18224 Preston Rd.
Employees at the closing North Dallas location have been notified. Kohl’s is offering severance packages or opportunities to apply to other open positions within the company.
