2,500-acre legacy ranch hits market for $14.7M: ‘Breathtaking’ view of Palo Pinto lake
A 2,500-acre slice of North Texas history just hit the real estate market, and it has something for everyone.
The property, which is part of the Long Ranch in Palo Pinto County, was listed by Trinity Country Real Estate for nearly $14.7 million. The selling agent is Matt Milligan, and the owner is David Weidner.
The Long Ranch has been in Weidner’s family since the Great Depression, when his great-uncle started buying up land. At its heyday in the 1940s, the ranch spanned 28,000 acres and had about 20 cowboys.
The ranch property’s location is in the Palo Pinto Mountains. The site has impressive views of Palo Pinto Lake and is about 10 miles from the future Palo Pinto Mountain State Park. Plus, it’s less than two hours from the Metroplex.
For people who enjoy fishing, hunting and wildlife photography, the ranch is home to seven ponds and is the natural habitat for deer, turkey, dove, geese, ducks, fish and wild boar. Interior roads offer ample opportunity for various outdoor adventures, from hiking to horseback riding.
There are also natural gas wells on the property, which features 320 feet of elevation change.
“As my kids were growing up in Houston, we would come back home to mom and dad and go out on the property and have campfires and picnics and fish and all of that,” said Weidner. “It was it was it was a great place to you know, get away for the weekend or come for a week or two in the summer.”
