Chick-fil-A says its far north Fort Worth location will remain open as it begins will soon begin $1 million in renovations with a drive-thru expansion.

The construction work starts in early April at the Chick-fil-A at 2900 Western Center Blvd., next to a BriteZone Car Wash just west of Interstate 35W, according to state records. The company plans to replace the single-lane drive-thru canopy where customers order with a dual canopy, which indicates two drive-thru lanes instead of the current one lane.

The Chick-fil-A will also replace a drive-thru window with an automated door, and relocate light poles and a flag pole. This location opened in 2019.

Some Chick-fil-As that undergo major renovations have to close to customers during construction. The Atlanta-based private company is spending millions on renovations and new restaurants across North Texas. At least three new Chick-fil-As will be built in Dallas-Fort Worth, and at least four existing locations are getting extensive renovations that include more drive-thru capacity at some.

The construction on Western Center Boulevard is expected to take about three months, wrapping up at the end of June.

Other projects include a $500,000 renovation of the Chick-fil-A in Southlake starting June 1. At the University of North Texas in Denton, renovations begin in May at the Student Union to open a Chick-Fil-A.

Chick-fil-A already has more than 100 locations in the Metroplex, including 16 in Fort Worth and 22 in Dallas.

According to state records over the past year, Chick-fil-A is investing at least $38.4 million in new Texas restaurants or renovations of existing locations.
