Man dies after being shot in the neck near Hulen Mall, Fort Worth police say
A man who was shot in the neck just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday near Hulen Mall has died, Fort Worth Police officer Buddy Calzada confirmed Thursday afternoon.
The shooting happened near South Hulen Street and South Drive West in a lot behind the Men’s Warehouse off of Rock Quarry Road. Investigators taped off an area surrounding a white car. More than two dozen police units responded to the shooting.
A man who manages the nearby Shine Express car wash said he and a coworker helped the man who was shot by trying to stop the bleeding.
After the shooting, the two suspects went into the nearby Hulen Mall and attempted to disguise themselves by changing their clothes, Calzada said.
An employee of Great American Cookies said she saw an officer chase two men in their 20s or 30s up the escalator in front of her store. The officer ordered the men to the ground at gunpoint and waited for backup, she said.
Calzada confirmed the men were arrested near the second floor food court. They have not been identified.
Police found a gun on one of the men, Calzada said.
Police are still investigating what led up to the shooting.
