Fort Worth, Keller restaurants expanding into former Denton County music club
A giant patio restaurant and music club in Roanoke will be home to restaurants and clubs expanding from north Fort Worth and Keller, the owners said this week.
The owners of Keller Tavern will open Roanoke Tavern in the former ChopShop Live club, along with a music club, Roanoke Live.
The club will open July 12 in the outdoor concert space.
Cafe Republic, a popular breakfast and lunch cafe in north Fort Worth, will split off part of the sprawling property and open a second location for its must-stop morning platters and weekend brunch.
Former Fort Worth City Council member Cary Moon and partners David DeWald and Greg Polson own Keller Tavern and other restaurants including Keller Chophouse, a prime steakhouse.
Keller Tavern, 128 S. Main St., Keller, is known for a pub menu including bacon-wrapped Buffalo chicken bites with jalapeno.
Cafe Republic, 8640 N. Beach St., Fort Worth, is owned by Fort Worth police officers. It features eggs Benedict and pancake breakfasts along with chicken-fried steaks or salads at lunch.
ChopShop Live, originally named ChopShop Live with Randy Rogers, opened in 2018 at 309 S. Oak St. It was a hangar-like suburban version of Dallas’ Rustic outdoor restaurant and concert space.
It closed in November, following other Roanoke restaurants that have struggled on a street designed to be a “restaurant row.” It now offers mostly bars in a quiet Denton County bedroom city known mostly for the original Babe’s Chicken Dinner House.
Rogers, a New Braunfels-based country music star who grew up in Cleburne, partnered with Dallas’ Rock Libations restaurants to open ChopShop Live.
That company also owns Musume, an Asian restaurant expected to reopen soon in the Sandman Signature hotel after it was damaged last year by a gas explosion in downtown Fort Worth.
