La Bistro: classic fine dining

La Bistro Italian Grill, 722 Grapevine Highway, Hurst, is a classic, old-fashioned Italian bistro, serving a variety of pastas and seafood.

It’s been around more than 40 years, an eternity by Hurst standards and long enough to serve two generations of Valentines; 817-281-9333, facebook.com/labistrotx.

Piccolo Mondo: like Italian used to be

Piccolo Mondo, 829 E. Lamar Blvd., Arlington, is another throwback Italian restaurant keeping the same traditions as when it opened 40 years ago,

This is the kind of restaurant where hundreds of local people had their first taste of escargot, mussels in angel hair pasta, lasagna or a steak-and-lobster combo; 817-265-9174, piccolomondo.com.

Campisi’s: There’s love in those booths

Campisi’s Restaurant, 6150 Camp Bowie Blvd., is a family pizza favorite any night but also a special dinner option.

It’s dark. There are booths. And wine.

Order the Randy White Ravioli, the Soprano pasta or a steak Italiano, and ignore the loud kid at the next table demanding more barbecued chicken pizza; 817-916-4561, campisis.us.
