Take a peek at Fort Worth’s Michelin Guide candidates during DFW Restaurant Week
At a time when money is tight, 35 restaurants in Tarrant County are still donating money to charity.
But they need your support to help raise money for a Fort Worth children’s charity during DFW Restaurant Week through Sept. 1.
The 35 restaurants are selling lunch, brunch or dinner specials — including complete three-course steak meals for $49 or $59 — and still donating about 20% of each check to the Lena Pope charity.
Bonnell’s Fine Texas Cuisine and Ellerbe Fine Foods, two restaurants sure to be in the running for Michelin Guide Texas listings when the first list is published this fall, will serve bargain $59 dinners through Aug. 18.
The menu at Bonnell’s, 4259 Bryant Irvin Road, features a choice of salad, dessert and either grilled salmon or a pepper-crusted pork chop with whiskey cream.
Ellerbe, 1501 W. Magnolia Ave., is offering salmon, leg of lamb or a vegetarian grilled eggplant dinner with salad and its signature bread pudding.
Don Artemio Mexican Heritage, 3268 W. Seventh St., was a recent James Beard Award finalist and also is probably in the running for the Michelin Guide.
Don Artemio’s specials continue through Aug. 25. They include a $24 lunch with filet mignon tacos, a bargain $49 dinner with salmon pipian or cabrito and also a premium $99 dinner with steak, sea bass in a banana leaf or a chile poblano hojaldrado (like a Wellington).
Soy Cowboy, 888 Nolan Ryan Expressway, a new upscale Asian restaurant in Arlington, will serve a $49 dinner special through Sept. 1 including teriyaki steak or salmon.
Soy Cowboy’s Fort Worth corporate cousin B&B Butchers, 5212 Marathon Ave., will extend its $29 lunches and $59 dinners with more than 10 options.
Cat City Grill, 1208 W. Magnolia Ave., joined DFW Restaurant Week this year and has extended its $49 special through Sept. 1. That menu features soup or salad, dessert and either mahi-mahi, chicken cacciatore or a flatiron steak.
More picks:
▪ The $29 crabcake Benedict or chicken-and-waffles brunch through Sept. 1 at Fitzgerald, 6115 Camp Bowie Blvd.
▪ The $49 dinner with a choice of prime rib, steak Oscar, New York strip or sea bass through Aug. 18 at Mac’s, 909 S. Main St., Grapevine.
▪ The $49 dinner with steak Oscar, osso buco or spicy salmon topped with crab through Sept. 1 at Zack’s Bistro, 900 E. Copeland Road (Interstate 30), Arlington.
Lena Pope raises nearly $200,000 from Restaurant Week each year. The family service agency has raised $3 million in the event’s history.

Dallas restaurants are also participating and donate to that city’s food bank.
That website is more clumsy, but it’s at dfwrestaurantweek.com/reservations.
