Bonnell’s restaurant cancels New Year’s week service after omicron cuts staff
Bonnell’s Fine Texas Cuisine, one of Fort Worth’s leading restaurants, has canceled service New Year’s Eve and all this week because the omicron variant left it shortstaffed, owner Jon Bonnell announced Tuesday on Facebook.
Because of omicron, “we do not have enough staff this week to provide the level of service that our customers have come to expect,” Bonnell wrote on Facebook.
Bonnell’s is the first of what is expected to be a handful of cancellations as restaurants deal with workers sick from the variant, or others who may have been exposed and may not be sick but tested positive and required to quarantine for five days.
The restaurant will continue to serve its $40 curbside takeout family meals through Thursday this week, but not Friday or Saturday, Bonnell wrote. The restaurant usually serves family meals Tuesdays through Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. to a line of cars at the east door.
Pizza Verde, a new vegan pizza restaurant in the Ridglea neighborhood, also canceled service until Sunday due to a staffing shortage.
Restaurants must decide whether to order supplies for a New Year’s Eve dinner that may not be fully staffed, particularly when some reservations may be canceled.
