A flashy new restaurant, chef’s specials, cocktails and brunch—and it’s in Burleson
A big-city restaurant and bar has opened in Burleson.
American Revelry has the menu, decor and cocktails to be on West Seventh Street or Magnolia Avenue. But it’s on Hidden Creek Parkway, about 1 mile west of Interstate 35W.
In the middle of sports fields backing up to Village Creek, chef Eric O’Connor’s restaurant anchors a new upscale development called the Standard at Chisenhall.
This is Burleson’s first chef-driven restaurant with craft cocktails, and really the only one south of central Fort Worth.
So far, Revelry is drawing a dinner crowd, but it’s not as busy at lunch or brunch. That’s the best time to give it a try.
At lunch this week, the “Stockyard” bacon cheeseburger with a duck egg looked trendy but tasted hearty ($15 with fries).
There’s also a regular cheeseburger ($13 with fries), a veggie burger, a Reuben, a turkey po-boy with gravy and a winter special New York-style beef-on-weck.
A citrus salad ($13) came loaded with grapefruit, tangerine, avocado and pomegranate, with a white balsamic.
The surprise was the smoked rainbow trout dip appetizer ($13), loaded with flavor and plenty for the table to share.
At brunch last weekend, the server recommended the chicken-and-waffles ($14). The honey-hot glazed thigh came with crispy waffles that were almost too crisp.
There’s also blueberry French toast with bacon ($14) or a regular breakfast plate ($13). From the bar, there are mimosas, bloody marys, and a “spiked coffee” with TX Whiskey and cream liqueur.
The daily bar menu features cocktails such as a TX Whiskey with pecan-thyme syrup, a rye-pomegranate “punch” and two drinks with gin or whiskey and apple cider.. There’s also a reasonably priced wine list led by a $9 house wine.
The decor is contemporary with one attractive touch: The only TV in the dining room is over the bar. Diners get to focus on conversation.
(There are more TVs on the patio opening in spring.)
O’Connor was a chef at Winslow’s Wine Cafe and was known for shrimp-and-grits there, so that’s on the dinner menu at American Revelry. He also made a stop at HG Sply Co.
His winter specials menu features New York dishes. Besides the beef-on-weck, there’s a pork chop platter, a whitefish Oscar with crab and bearnaise, a deconstructed Waldorf salad and an appetizer of Buffalo duck.
It’s open for lunch and dinner daily and at 10 a.m. weekends for brunch; 817-484-6553, americanrevelry.com.
