Dallas restaurant health inspections show signs of roaches in six establishments
Recent Dallas restaurant inspections found six eateries with signs of roaches, according to city data compiled by the Star-Telegram.
Dallas uses a 100-point system, with 90-100 being very good, 80-89 being good, 70-79 passing but requiring re-inspection within 30 days, and 60-69 resulting in failure and requiring re-inspection within 10 days. A score of 60 or below results in immediate closure and requires another inspection before opening.
There were a total of 365 inspections from June 14 to June 27.
Tikka N Kabab at 7859 McCallum Blvd. and Fire Box at 9918 Plano Road scored 78 and 79 respectively, so they require follow-up inspection within 30 days.
These establishments were re-inspected:
- Pecan Lodge at 2702 Main St.
- The Empanada Cookhouse at 1001 Ross Ave. Suite 118.
- Vidorra at 2642 Main St. Suite 100.
- La Michoacana Meat Market at 9850 Walnut Hill Lane, Suite 224.
- Lindy’s at 13425 Seagoville Road.
- Murphys Restaurant & Lounge at 10051 Whitehurst Drive, Suite 100.
These six establishments had signs of roaches:
- Neuhaus at 5959 Royal Lane had roach droppings on the kitchen wall and received a score of 80.
- Allende Seafood Bar & Grill at 3311 Sylvan Ave. received a score of 82, and was noted to have a cockroach in the kitchen.
- Murphy’s Restaurant & Lounge at 10051 Whitehurst Drive Suite 100 scored an 82, and had cockroaches crawling on the walls. The restaurant later had an unscored follow-up inspection.
- Honeyberry Pancakes & Cafe at 4520 Frankford Road Suite 100 scored an 89, and had a roach on the wall behind the dishwasher.
- Kroger at 17194 Preston Road scored 96, and had roaches near food on the prep line and under the grill.
- Burger King at 11830 N. Central Expressway scored 97, and had roach activity near a warmer on the cook line.
Others findings of note:
Inspectors found several foods above 41 degrees at Bam’s BBQ Soulfood & Catering Restaurant, at 3121 S. Loop 12 Ste 101, including sausage at 68 degrees, raw eggs at 66, cooked scrambled meat at 68, pickles at 51 and sour cream at 62. There were also flies observed in the kitchen.
At Chicken Express at 10930 N Central Expressway, the restaurant received a final warning for being out of sanitizer at the time of inspection. It also had mashed potatoes in a warming unit tested at 125 degrees.
At Golden Chick at 17858 Preston Road, inspectors found moldy cheese in a reach-in cooler, raw chicken stored above lettuce, mold in the ice machine and ice chute, and raw chicken thawing in a broken walk-in cooler.
During this inspection period, there were no closures or unacceptable scores.
