A new, upscale Chinese steakhouse is coming to this North Texas city

A new Chinese restaurant with a modern contemporary steakhouse vibe is expected to open in North Texas in summer or fall 2027.

The new restaurant will open in the Old Town area of Keller. Donny Wu and Tommy Zheng, the wife-and-husband duo who own Hush Sushi Kitchen and Bar, are bringing the new Chinese steakhouse concept to the area.

The new restaurant is going to be called HOPS Kitchen and Bar. Construction on the lot located at 200 Keller Parkway is expected to begin after the groundbreaking in the first week of August.

“HOPS is a brand of its own, built on hospitality, prosperity and memorable gatherings,” Wu said.

Wu said the couple, who are originally from China and moved to the U.S. at a young age, are passionate about sharing their culture and cuisine.

“With HOPS, we’re creating more than just a restaurant, we’re building a destination where exceptional steaks, authentic Chinese cuisine, handcrafted cocktails and genuine hospitality come together under one roof,” Wu said. “We want every visit to feel like an occasion, whether you’re celebrating a milestone, gathering with friends or simply enjoying an unforgettable meal. We can’t wait to welcome the Fort Worth community and share what we’ve been building.”

Wu told the Star-Telegram the restaurant will have three separate rooms, a main dining hall with a full bar, an air-conditioned, covered patio with seating and panoramic windows. There’s also the Red Room, a speakeasy with its own menu, cocktail menu and a full bar.

Wu said the new restaurant is an addition to everything that has gone into Hush, with its welcoming “ambiance,” but customers can expect HOPS to be a little more upscale.

In addition to the authentic Chinese food and aged steak options, there will also be seafood and modern cuisines. Wu added that customers can expect a whiskey bar, a full wine list and champagne.

“We’re super excited that this project is finally coming alive,” Wu said. “We’ve had the vision for this for the past two to three years, and I’m so happy it’s kicking off.”

The estimated cost of the construction is $3.5M for the 7,200-square-feet restaurant, and Wu expects to open in summer or fall of 2027.

The City of Keller and the new mayor, Ross McMullin, took to social media to announce the new business on June 26.

“We can’t wait to share more as this exciting new high-quality restaurant comes to life!,” read a post by McMullin. “Congratulations to owners Donny and Tommy! Keller can’t wait to support you.”

While customers will have to wait for the new restaurant to open, Hush is open Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Wu said they’ll be celebrating Hush’s fourth anniversary in October with a live tuna cutting.
