Two Grapevine bakeries receive national recognition for their cakes and pies
If you want some of the nation’s best pie or cake, you can do so by taking a quick 30-minute drive from Fort Worth.
Two Grapevine bakeries were recognized in recent USA TODAY 10BEST awards. The readers’ choice awards are curated by a panel of expert judges, then voted on by USA TODAY readers.
JudyPie in Grapevine was recognized for the third year in a row as one of the best pie bakeries in America. Legacy Cakes was also recognized for its second year in a row as one of the country’s best cake shops.

JudyPie in Grapevine was voted as the No. 8 best pie shop in the country. The bakery is known for Rhonda’s Pecan Pie, a recipe inspired by owner Judy Balunda’s mother’s recipe she’d bake every Sunday.
The bakery also serves flavors like banana pudding, cherry, lemon meringue, coconut cream, key lime and creme brulee.
JudyPie can be found at 520 S. Main St., Suite 200 in Grapevine. Pies can be ordered ahead of time online as soon as 24 hours before. Certain pie flavors require a three-day turn around.
Legacy Cakes
Megan Rountree of Legacy Cakes won Food Network’s “Winner Cake All” and also made an appearance on Food Network’s “Holiday Baking Championship” and TLC’s “Next Great Baker.”
Her bakery is known for custom cakes made into any shape or size with delicious cake and frosting flavors. USA TODAY recognized the bakery as No. 6 in the country for Rountree’s “architectural and decorative masterpieces.”
Legacy Cakes is located at 120 S. Main St., Suite 20 in Grand Prairie. Macarons, cupcakes, cookies, brownies and other baked goods are available daily. Cake orders should be made at least a week in advance by stopping by the bakery or calling (817) 442-9999.
