Hot water problems, pest infestation in latest Tarrant County inspections

One Tarrant County food establishment was closed due to a pest infestation and six others were noted to have issues with hot water in the latest round of health inspections, according to the report.

The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from May 17-23 and 105 inspections.

Tarrant County’s health inspections function on a demerit system where a score of 100 is considered perfect and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor. Tarrant County Public Health inspects all food establishments in the county except for those in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills.

Vie A Paris French Bakery, located at 954 Melbourne Road in Hurst, had a score of 92. The bakery closed voluntarily due to a pest infestation, and was approved to operate after a follow-up inspection.

Six establishments had problems with hot water service:

  • Hilton Garden Inn, located at 205 West Texas 114 in Grapevine, had a score of 98. The hotel lacked hot water due to a gas outage at the time of inspection.
  • Cousins BBQ Airport LLC, located at gate B12 inside DFW Airport, had a score of 91. The establishment lacked a properly functioning hand sink.
  • Big Joes Pizza Pasta, located at 1195 Farm Road 156 South in Haslet, had a score of 85. No hot water was available at handwashing sinks in the restaurant.
  • Macs Corner, located at 1098 East Texan Trail in Grapevine, had a score of 91. Hot water was unavailable at the establishment’s three-compartment sink.
  • Avila Taco, located at 1540 Keller Parkway in Keller, had a score of 93. Hot water heaters at the establishment were not reaching the correct temperature.
  • Bedford Beer & Wine Taco Place, located at 800 Brown Trail in Bedford, had a score of 91. Inspectors noted the water heater was turned off at the beginning of the inspection.
