More Texas barbecue will be offered on American Airlines flights out of DFW

Fort Worth-based American Airlines will offer even more Texas barbecue on flights to and from DFW Airport.

Pecan Lodge barbecue platters and smoked brisket sandwiches have been offered on flights out of DFW to New York airports since February. These same menu items will now be offered on flight routes to Boston and Los Angeles.

Pecan Lodge is a Dallas-based barbecue joint known for brisket and burnt ends. Travel and Leisure, as well as Tripadvisor, has ranked the spot as some of the best barbecue in America. Customers can find them at 2702 Main St. in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas.

How does Pecan Lodge cater American Airlines flights?

Pecan Lodge owner Justin Fourton told the Star-Telegram that the recipes and cooking methods for American Airlines are identical to how the meals are prepared in the Pecan Lodge restaurant.

“Pecan Lodge prepares all of the signature sauces, sides, desserts, and legendary smoked brisket in its Dallas smokehouse and commissary kitchen,” said Fourton. “We deliver our food to LSG SkyChefs, the caterer that provides in-flight meals for American Airlines. Their team plates our food and manages the logistics of distributing it to each aircraft leaving D-FW that serves Pecan Lodge food.”

Because of the positive response to the Pecan Lodge offerings on American flights, Fourton said they are looking to eventually expand the variety of in-flight menu options beyond a barbecue platter and sandwich.
