Roach found in jail kitchen in latest Tarrant County inspections

One Tarrant County restaurant was closed and others were noted to have issues with roaches in the latest round of county health inspections, according to the report.

The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from May 3 through May 16 and 242 inspections.

Tarrant County’s health inspections function on a 100-point scale, where a score of 100 is considered perfect and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor. Tarrant County Public Health inspects all restaurants in the county except those located in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills.

Warhammer Store & Cafe, 616 S. Main St. in Grapevine, had a score of 94. Inspectors closed the location’s food service area because it lacked a three-compartment warewashing sink and therefore did not meet minimum operating standards. The business must remain closed until a follow-up inspection finds violations have been corrected.

Happy Bowl, 8149 White Settlement Road in White Settlement, had a score of 61. It was the only location to score below 70 in this round of inspections, and will require a follow-up inspection.

Roaches were observed at two locations:

Wings Over Fort Worth, 520 Alta Mere Drive in White Settlement, had a score of 80. Roaches were found by the three-compartment sink and a mop sink, according to the report.

Selrico Services at Tarrant County Jail, 600 W. Weatherford St. in Fort Worth, had a score of 94. A cockroach larva was observed by the ovens in the jail’s kitchen, according to the report.
