Roaches, rodent droppings found during Fort Worth health inspections
One Fort Worth restaurant was closed during May 10-16 health inspections because of water issues, and inspectors found rodent droppings and roaches at other establishments, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.
Fort Worth uses a demerit system, with zero being a perfect score.
Domino’s Pizza at 12412 Timberland Blvd. scored 14 on May 13. The posted permit had expired and there was no hot water in the facility. The restaurant was required to close until the problem with the hot water could be fixed.
Sunny’s Cafe at 3515 Sycamore School Road scored 24 on May 12. Some food was expired, and black organic matter was found on a ceiling vent. The inspector also noticed flies, dead insects and rodent droppings in the facility.
Kingdom Family Learning Center at 1027 Ash Crescent St. scored 9 on May 11. Raw eggs were stored above ready-to-eat food and the inspector found dead insects and evidence of past rodent droppings in some of the cabinets.
El Porvenir Panaderia at 5031 Wichita St. scored 22 on May 12. A faucet on the three-compartment sink was leaking, there was no thermometer in one of the coolers and some dead roaches were found behind the tortilla maker.
Doña Carmen Pupuseria at 3075 Mansfield Highway scored 16 on May 11. Some beef fajitas were held at an unsafe temperature, a bottle of chemical spray wasn’t labeled, and a dead roach was found on the floor in the warewashing area.
No establishments scored more than 30 demerits during this round of inspections. Restaurants that receive more than 30 demerits are required to immediately fix the most critical violations and start corrective procedures on all the other violations within 48 hours.
Seven facilities, including the Renaissance Worthington Hotel at 200 Main St., received a perfect score of zero.
