Roaches, rodents and low scores in recent Tarrant restaurant inspections

Roaches and rodent droppings were found at several Tarrant County restaurants in the latest round of health inspections, report shows.

The report, compiled by the Star-Telegram, contains data from April 5 through April 11 and 157 inspections.

Tarrant County health inspections function on a demerit system. Demerits are subtracted from a starting score of 100, which is considered perfect. A score of 70 is considered extremely poor. The county health department inspects all food establishments in the county except those in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills.

Four restaurants received low scores during this inspection cycle:

  • Bangkok House Limited Liability Co at 438 S. Cherry Lane in White Settlement. Score: 55.
  • Lisas Chicken & Seafood at 816 S Crowley Road in Crowley. Score: 68.
  • India Today at 151 N. Nolen Drive in Southlake. Score: 77.
  • Wow House Chinese Restaurant at 8905 Benbrook Blvd. Suite F in Benbrook. Score: 78.

Roaches and mice droppings were observed at:

  • Bangkok House Limited Liability Co at 438 S. Cherry Lane in White Settlement. Health inspectors observed a dead cockroach on the vent of the reach-in cooler next to the cook area and deep freezer. Score: 55.
  • Fiesta Donuts And More at 1220 Airport Freeway, Suite M in Bedford. Health inspectors observed one dead cockroach underneath the compartment sink. Score: 83.
  • Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program at 3131 Sanguinet St. in Fort Worth. Inspectors observed several dead insects, two dead cockroaches under the shelves in the dry storage area and mice droppings underneath shelves in the dry storage area. Score: 93.
  • Lynn Ross Juvenile Detention at 2701 Kimbo Road in Fort Worth. Several dead insects, two dead cockroaches under the shelves in the dry storage area and droppings underneath shelves in the dry storage area were seen at the facility. Score: 93.
  • Seven Day Donut at 505 N. Industrial Blvd., Suite 700 in Bedford. Inspectors observed a dead cockroach in the kitchen hand sink. Score: 96.
