A NY hoagie sandwich shop is opening its first Texas restaurant in Fort Worth
A new sandwich shop, called The Hoagie Spot, plans to open in far north Fort Worth.
The Hoagie Spot is a Buffalo-based sandwich shop that sells hot sandwiches in the classic long roll. The restaurant only has three stores, all located in New York.
The new location in Fort Worth will be at 2719 Basswood Blvd. near Interstate 35W, next to WhiteWater car wash.
As far as “hoagie” shops go, Fort Worth is more familiar with sandwiches by other names. “Sub” shops like Jersey Mike’s, Jimmy John’s, Cheba Hut or McAlister’s Deli are more common.
The difference between a hoagie and a sub is the region where they originated. Both have long rolls of bread with Italian meats and cheeses layered in between, but one is from Philadelphia (hoagie) and the other is from New York (sub). Though The Hoagie Spot is based in Upstate New York, the restaurant’s namesake was born in Philly.
This Hoagie Spot storefront will be the first in Texas, and the first outside the Northeast.
What’s on the menu at The Hoagie Spot
The Hoagie Spot is known for its Westside special, which is a hot hoagie sandwich with choice of meat, banana peppers, cheese, onion and homemade sauce.
They have nearly 20 sandwiches to choose from including Philly cheesesteaks, steak sandos, chicken and sausage melts and portabella mushroom sandwiches.
And if you don’t want a sandwich, The Hoagie Spot also offers wings, steak fries, chicken fingers and tacos.
