2 Tarrant County restaurants temporarily closed, rodent feces found at another

Two restaurants temporarily closed in Tarrant County after recent health inspections, and rodent feces were found at one food establishment, county records show.

There were 167 restaurant inspections between March 23-March 29, according to county data compiled by the Star-Telegram.

Tarrant County Public Health is transitioning to a new inspection report format. Under the old system, a perfect score was 0 demerits. The new system considers 100 as the highest possible score, which indicates no violations.

Birrieria Gomez at 200 Norwood Drive in Hurst, was temporarily closed after the kitchen hand sink was not working. The health inspectors asked the restaurant to repair the hand sink with hot water capable of reaching 100°F prior to re-inspection. The restaurant scored 87 during the initial inspection.

The facility was approved by the county to re-open after the sink was repaired. The restaurant’s new inspection score is 94.

Avocados Food at 3000 Grapevine Mills in Grapevine, temporarily closed due to lack of hot water. The eatery scored 98.

Health inspectors found rodent feces in a corner of the employee break room at Corner Food Store at 212 W Bedford Euless Road in Hurst. The eatery scored 94.

La Isla Restaurant Mariscos Y Mas at 2233 W. Park Row Drive, Pantego. Score: 78

Twelve restaurants had follow-up inspections during this inspection cycle.
