2 Tarrant County restaurants closed; health inspectors find rodent feces, urine at others

Two restaurants were temporarily closed in Tarrant County after recent health inspections.

According to county data compiled by the Star-Telegram, there were 333 inspections conducted between March 9 and March 22.

Tarrant County Public Health is transitioning to a new inspection report format. Under the old system, a perfect score was 0 demerits. The new system considers 100 as the highest possible score, which indicates no violations.

Sabor De Mi Tierra Zacatecas, at 797 Keller Parkway in Keller, was instructed to close until county inspectors are notified that the plumbing is fixed and hot water is available. The restaurant scored 86.

Saginaw Donut Shop, at 1029 N. Saginaw Blvd E2, was inspected by the City of Saginaw upon request due to building code violations. The eatery was ordered to repair leaks in the water heater so that hot water is available at all times to the three-compartment and hand-washing sinks before reopening. The donut shop must schedule a follow-up inspection before opening. The restaurant received a score of 85.

Sandy Beach Mart, at 1850 N. FM 730 in Azle, had temporarily stopped operations because food was not being held at proper cold temperatures. The business installed new cooling units that were operating correctly. The restaurant then scored 84 and was approved to reopen, according to county records. Health inspectors also found dried rodent droppings next to the refrigerator, near the hand sink and behind the chest freezer.

The public health inspectors found rodent droppings at the three other food establishments:

Smoothie King, at 775 Grapevine Highway in Hurst. Rodent droppings were found in the back of a cabinet across from the drive thru register. Score: 86

Drive Thru Mart, at 429 Bedford Road in Bedford. Rodent feces and urine were observed in the back room on the walls and floors. Score: 96

USA Grocery & Grill, at 800 Forest Ridge Drive in Bedford. Health inspectors observed rodent feces behind equipment and in back area. Score: 96

Roaches were found at three eateries:

Cicis Pizza, at 2101 Harwood Road 115 in Bedford. Score: 92

Fellowship Of The Parks, at 2045 Bedford Road in Bedford. Score: 92

Mamacitas Sports Bar, at 5103 Azle Ave Suite 100 in Sansom Park. Score: 94

Two businesses received a score under 70 and these establishments require a follow-up inspection:

Nyc Bagel And Deli, at 3930 Glade Road Ste 100 in Colleyville. Score: 64

Riz Gift Shop, at 5136 Jacksboro Highway in Sansom Park. Score: 67

Five restaurants had follow-up inspections during this cycle:

Cowtown Mart, at 5509 Azle Ave. in Sansom Park. Score: 77

Sandy Beach Mart, at 1850 N. FM 730 in Azle. Score: 84

Master Wok, at 1101 Melbourne Road 2304 in Hurst. Score: 96

Cmaries Sweets, at 1009 Cheek Sparger Road 126 in Colleyville. Score: 99

Jack In The Box, at 1290 William D Tate in Grapevine. Score: 100
