1 Plano restaurant closed after live rat was found, health inspection report shows
Plano city health inspectors temporarily closed one restaurant after they found a live rat and rat droppings in the establishment, according to city data compiled by the Star-Telegram.
There were 143 inspections conducted between Nov. 10 and Nov. 30.
Plano inspection data is on a 100-point system. A score of 100 is a perfect score and 70 is considered to be extremely poor. Each restaurant and other location that serves food receives between one and four routine inspections per year.
Haunted Castle Cafe at 1900 Dallas Parkway scored 83 and was temporarily closed. The restaurant had multiple violations including the presence of a live rat in the dry storage area, and rat dropping in the dining and bar areas. The restaurant has reopened after a follow-up inspection.
Another restaurant where health inspectors found rodent droppings was Saucy’s Thai & Pho at 4152 W. Spring Creek Parkway Suite 144. After a follow-up inspection it was noted that the establishment had been treated for rodents and affected areas appeared to be clean, the city report shows.
A repeat violator for unsafe sushi fish was listed in this inspection report. Yummi Sushi located inside Kroger at 7100 Independence Parkway had salmon and tuna placed in the serving line at an unsafe temperature.
