2 Fort Worth restaurants closed for serious health violations; roaches found at 3 others

Two Fort Worth restaurants were closed for serious health violations during the Jan. 29-Feb. 11 inspections, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.

Pei Wei at 2901 Heritage Trace Parkway, and Sushi Nomi, located at 8653 N. Beach St., were required to close due to insufficient hot water at the first facility and no hot water at the second.

Inspectors also found improperly stored raw food at both locations. Pei Wei scored 23 demerits and Sushi Nomi 12.

In Fort Worth inspections, a score of zero is perfect. Restaurants that receive more than 30 demerits are required to immediately fix critical violations and start corrective procedures on the other violations within 48 hours. No restaurants scored more than 30 on this round of inspections, but a few were close.

Paco’s Mexican Cuisine at 1508 W. Magnolia Ave. received 30 demerits on Feb. 7. Inspectors noticed a bottle of chemicals on the same shelf as food products and some foods were stored at unsafe temperatures. They also found dead flies in the establishment.

Paco’s Mexican Cuisine scored 11 on a follow-up inspection three days later.

Our Brunch Spot at 12420 Timberland Blvd. scored 29 on Feb. 3. Inspectors saw buildup on the ice machine and food stored at unsafe temperatures.

i Fratelli Pizza located at 1907 8th Ave. scored 28, also on Feb. 3. Inspectors noticed fruit flies, no hand towels at the hand sink and a severe buildup of grease on the ventilation hood.

Inspectors found roaches in three restaurants: Thailicious at 4601 West Freeway, Golden Corral at 3517 Alta Mere Drive and Captain D’s at 8514 Camp Bowie West Blvd.

The Fort Worth Club at 306 W. 7th St. scored a 16, but inspectors noticed expired orange juice and organic growth on some berries in the cooler.

Brookdale Tanglewood Oaks, located at 2698 S. Hulen St., was told to clean the dumpster enclosure and close the dumpster lids within 24 hours or inspectors would issue a citation. Brookdale scored 1 demerit.
