1 Fort Worth restaurant closed after health inspection; rodent droppings found at steakhouse

One restaurant was closed and another had rodent droppings when Fort Worth health inspectors visited the businesses in the latest round of inspections, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.

The city inspected 157 restaurants from Dec. 25 to Jan. 7.

In Fort Worth, restaurants are scored based on demerits. A score of 0 is perfect while a score of 30 or higher requires the restaurant to fix the most serious health code violations immediately and undergo a follow-up inspection.

Inspectors closed Rooster’s Gathering Hole at 6001 N. Main St. on Jan. 5 with a score of 33 after they found improperly stored food, employees who had not completed their food handler courses and a household refrigerator in use in the kitchen. The restaurant was reopened in a follow-up inspection the next day.

When they visited Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in downtown Fort Worth on Dec. 30, inspectors noted rodent droppings in the storage room under the shelves. Another inspection later that day showed the issue as having been resolved.

At Heim’s BBQ on Magnolia Avenue, inspectors wrote that repeated violations for not having a certified food protection manager could result in legal action.
