Two of the 47 Fort Worth restaurants inspected from Sept. 18 to Sept. 24 were temporarily closed due to serious health code violations, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.

Edohana Sushi on South Hulen St. and Original Mexican Eats Cafe on Camp Bowie Boulevard were both closed due to inadequate refrigeration. Edohana Sushi passed its reinspection and reopened on the same day. The Original passed and reopened on Sept. 18 after closing on the 16th.

Two other restaurants received over 30 demerits. Restaurants receiving more than 30 demerits are required to fix the worst problems immediately and clean up the rest within 48 hours.

Sushi Axiom Hibachi and Bar on South Freeway received a score of 49 on Sept. 20, passing its follow-up on Sept. 23 with a score of 29. Health code violations included flies in the kitchen, improper food storage and cookware meant for cooking being stored on the floor.

Riscky’s Barbecue at 300 Main Street scored a 32 on Sept. 23, with inspectors noting violations including an organic matter growing in the ice machine, unlabeled chemical bottles and meat storage containers on the floor of the walk-in cooler. A followup inspection will occur next week.

Here are the inspection scores and violations for restaurants within the city limits of Fort Worth for Sept. 18th - Sept. 24th, 2022. Scores are based on a demerit system. When the total exceeds 30, the restaurant must take immediate corrective action on all identified critical violations, then has 48 hours to initiate corrective action on all other violations.
