Two Tarrant County restaurants closed for health code violations in latest inspections
Two of the 199 Tarrant County inspected between Sept. 11 and Sept. 24 were closed because of health code violations, according to data from the county compiled by the Star-Telegram.
One Subway, at 6850 Denton Highway in Watauga, was closed when inspectors found serious health code violations including no sanitizing agent to clean food contact surfaces and not enough hot water for employees to wash hands before handling food, according to the inspector notes. It passed its follow-up inspection the next day.
Another restaurant, Pho Hotpot and Crawfish in Haltom City, closed voluntarily because of 33 demerits stemming from health code violations including lack of basic food safety knowledge. It passed a follow-up three days later.
Tarrant County Public Health inspects and scores all restaurants in Tarrant County except for those located in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills. Restaurants are scored using demerits. A score of 0 is perfect and a score higher than 29 is considered poor and requires a follow-up inspection.
Five restaurants scored higher than 29:
- Dickeys Barbecue Pit at 1858 Precinct Line Road in Hurst, 33
- Pho Hotpot and Crawfish 7 in Haltom City, 33
- Burger King at 6625 Lake Worth Blvd. in Lake Worth, 31
- Pho B.A.E in Southlake, 31
- Long John Silvers at 6042 Lake Worth Blvd. in Lake Worth, 30
Pho B.A.E. was told inspectors would be back by Sept. 30 and warned that all health code violations would have to be corrected. The Long John Silvers in Lake Worth was told it would have to fix a leak below a cabinet with a motor and an electrical outlet within 72 hours.
