Two Arlington restaurants fail health inspections, one closed for violations
Two Arlington restaurants failed inspections and one that was closed Jan. 13 was reinspected and reopened during health inspections between Jan. 24 and Feb. 4, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.
The city inspected a total of 112 restaurants during that time period.
Take a Bao at 2390 E. Lamar Blvd. failed its inspection with a score of 67 and El Pollo Regio at 105 S. Bowen Road failed with a 70, according to data from the city.
In Arlington, restaurants are scored on a scale of 0 to 100, with anything lower than a 70 being considered extremely poor. Restaurants must be reinspected if they score below a 75.
Inspectors found violations at Take a Bao including expired food, improperly stored food and ice, unclean food-contact surfaces, unlabeled chemicals, repairs required for sinks and toilets and no hot water in the kitchen handwashing sink, according to the city.
At El Pollo Regio, they found problems including improperly stored food, cross contamination, improperly sanitized food-contact surfaces and utensils and improperly stored chemicals, a spokesperson for the city said.
Some violations were fixed at the time of the inspections and both restaurants will have follow-up inspections in the coming days, according to the city.
Blu Lounge Bar and Grill passed its Jan. 26 follow-up and reopened after an inspection led the restaurant to close on Jan. 13.
Perfect scores included Pollos La Pullita at 1634 New York Ave. and several non-restaurants that have some sort of food service provided on their premises.
