One Fort Worth restaurant was closed due to serious health code violations found during Fort Worth inspections conducted from Jan. 16 to Jan. 29, according to data collected by the city and compiled by the Star-Telegram.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, which has a mailing address of at 13100 US 278 in Haslet but is in Fort Worth city limits, was closed on Jan. 25 after an inspector found violations considered serious enough to warrant a shutdown until the problems were fixed.

Abid Masood, the owner of the store, said the Dickey’s Barbecue Pit location was closed for two hours after an inspector found that the store’s water heater was malfunctioning and not keeping water at a consistent temperature of 110 degrees. Masood said the water heater was repaired within an hour and the store opened two hours after it had been closed, the extra hour due to his waiting for the inspector to return and give them the green light.

Other violations found at the store included rusted floor junctures at the walk-in cooler, no hand soap at a hand-washing sink, inadequate water supply at multiple sinks and a microwave that did not meet National Sanitation Foundation standards, according to the data from the city.

According to the restaurant’s Google listing on Feb. 4, that Dickey’s location was temporarily closed. Nobody answered a Star-Telegram call to the restaurant to see if it had reopened yet, but Masood told the Star-Telegram in an email Feb. 17 the listing was inaccurate and his store was not closed due to the inspection more than the two hours spent fixing the water heater and waiting for an inspector to come back.

This story was updated Feb. 17 to reflect new information.
