Four Fort Worth business kitchens close as health inspectors find serious violations
Four Fort Worth restaurants were closed for serious health violations, two received perfect scores and one passed a follow-up after inspectors found roaches in the restaurant the week before, according to information from Fort Worth health inspectors compiled by the Star-Telegram.
The inspections took place from July 11 to July 17.
Thai Hut Authentic Thai Cuisine at 5408 Basswood Blvd. closed July 17 because refrigerators were not cooling food enough and was reopened the next day, an employee told the Star-Telegram. The problem was corrected overnight, the employee said.
The Radisson Hotel at Fossil Creek, 2540 Meacham Blvd., closed on July 12 after inspectors noted 35 health code violations in the facility. The Radisson scored 14 on the followup inspection but was closed again due to inadequate hot water. The general manager of the hotel was not available to comment on the kitchen closings for the hotel.
Any restaurant that receives more than 30 health code violations in Fort Worth is required to take immediate corrective action for the worst of the problems, then has 48 hours to correct any other issues noted by inspectors. If inspectors note 35 or more health code violations or other serious issues, the restaurant or kitchen must shut down until corrective actions are completed.
Blue 32 Sports Bar and Grill, at 1201 Longhorn Road, scored a 12, but was closed for roaches, according to the inspection reports.
Zoe’s Kitchen at 9574 Sage Meadow Trail closed July 16 with only six violations, but a note from inspectors that serious health violations were found on the premises. Inspectors did not specify what those violations were.
Zoe’s Kitchen had insufficient hot water supply, inadequate hand cleaning supplies, improperly stored chemical sanitizing solution, and no certified food manager certificate posted in a conspicuous location, according to the inspection report. An employee who answered the phone said the general manager told her to relay that the restaurant would not be commenting.
Aside from the Radisson, Shell Shack at 3001 Heritage Trace Parkway was the only establishment to surpass 30 violations found by inspectors. It had 33. A manager said he could not comment on specifics but that the restaurant corrected actions.
Closed last week for roaches, Prima Pasta and Pizza at 6108 Hulen St. passed a follow-up inspection with a score of 22.
Inspectors noted black organic material growing in ice machines, food in coolers without dates and labels, no soap available at hand sinks, buildup of soil residues on non-food contact surfaces and no permit or license and inspection report posted for public view.
Two Fort Worth restaurants scored perfectly, meaning inspectors found no health code violations.
Oak Acres BARBQ at 1700 N. Las Vegas Trail and Costa Vida at 9530 Feather Grass Lane were in perfect condition, according to health inspectors.
